Dental Implants in Littleton, Denver, and Lakewood, CO

Replacing missing or damaged teeth with dental implants restores not only the beauty of your smile, but also your ability to eat the foods you love and enjoy better oral health. At Peak OMS, we specialize in dental implant placement for natural-looking, lasting dental restorations.

What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants replace the roots of missing teeth and are made of either biocompatible titanium or zirconium. Once surgically placed into your jawbone, implants fuse with the surrounding jawbone, creating a stable foundation for dental restorations such as crowns, bridges, or fixed dentures. Implants not only help your restorations function like natural teeth, but they also stimulate the jawbone, preventing the bone deterioration common with tooth loss.

Types of Dental Implants

Dental implants are made from biocompatible materials that are known for their durability and low likelihood of rejection by the body. At Peak OMS, we work with two preferred materials for dental implants, selecting the most suitable material for each patient based on their individual needs.

Titanium Implants

Titanium dental implants are made from the same material that has been used for artificial joints for decades. They have been proven safe, effective, and can last a lifetime for many patients. They provide an excellent foundation for dental restorations.

Zirconia Implants

Zirconia dental implants are made of a special ceramic material that is highly corrosion-resistant, biocompatible, and durable. Zirconium implants are an alternative for patients who have metal allergies. They are also an ideal choice for front teeth restorations, as they match the color of a tooth restoration and will not be visible at the gumline. Learn more about Zirconium Implants here.

Dental Implant Brands

While there are literally hundreds of companies from around the world that manufacture tooth implant types and related components, we adamantly refuse to compromise the quality & potential longevity of your work by using cheaper, unproven implants. Nobel BioCare, Astra, Straumann, and 3i are industry leaders in market share, boasting a long-proven history of success and significant scientific and clinical research to support their tooth implant options.

Implant Placement

Your dental implant journey begins with a consultation, during which we develop a customized treatment plan tailored to your oral health, medical history, and dental restoration goals.

On the day of surgery, we numb the area and offer appropriate sedation for your comfort during the procedure. We peel back the gum tissue and place each implant in the precise location mapped out in your treatment plan to assure proper support for the crowns, bridge, or denture that will be attached later. Once the implants are in place, we suture the gums closed.

Over the next few months, the dental implants fuse with the surrounding bone. During this phase, your dentist or prosthodontist can provide a temporary restoration to wear. When the healing is complete, your permanent restoration is attached. You will have a natural-looking, healthy smile that lasts for decades.

Dental Implants FAQs

Are dental implants permanent?

Implants are designed to be biocompatible and last for decades. For most patients, they last a lifetime, although the restorations (the visible portion, such as a crown) may need to be replaced after 20 years or so due to normal wear. In most cases, a restoration can be replaced without disturbing the dental implant.

Does getting dental implants hurt?

The surgery itself does not hurt because we numb the area and use sedation. You may not remember anything about the surgery when it is over. There is some swelling and discomfort for the first three to four days following surgery, but this is easy to manage with over-the-counter pain relievers and ice packs. By the end of the week, you should feel like your normal self.

Will I have to take time off work?

We recommend taking three to four days off work to rest and recuperate, to allow your body to focus on healing.

Am I too old for dental implants?

No. Individuals in their 80s have gotten dental implants and wondered why they waited so long.

What is the success rate of dental implants?

The success rate for dental implants is quite impressive, ranging from 95% to 97% for patients who follow their post-operative instructions.

What can I eat after dental implant surgery?

You will be on a soft diet for the first few weeks. Mashed potatoes, hummus, yogurt, pudding, cottage cheese, and smoothies are all good choices. After the first few weeks, you can begin adding firmer foods.
